This release of XmCCD offers basic functions needed for controlling
most SBIG astronomical CCD cameras.

XmCCD uses the SBIG Universal Driver Library, a copy of which is
included here. The software should recognize any camera or
interface supported by the library, but in this version the interface
type has to be selected before the program is compiled. See INSTALL
for instructions on how this is done.

In future versions of XmCCD we intend to

-- add a user option for interface selection
-- make the filter information display user configurable
-- implement autoguiding and adaptive optics control
-- provide access to other camera functions such as
      binning, subframe readout, and time-delay-integration
-- add exposure and target information to the fits file header

XmCCD is intended to be used as a simple, flexible, camera controller in
conjuction with ds9 for image display. Other utilities, such as those in
the cfitsio library, provide a complete set of image processing
tools.

If you try this version and have suggestions or requests, please send
email to kielkopf@louisville.edu.
